What is a Manja?

A Manja is Jamaica's own answer to the comics, manga and manhwa you already know — writing and visual theme development combined into one industry-standard storyboard pipeline. Jamaica coined the term out of a love for the artform and Wave Animation's core belief in adaptability: take a global craft, root it in local culture, and make something that belongs to us.

where Blackgoat began

Before the feature, there was the pilot. Director Barrington James' animated short "The GumBWOY" — featured in international and local film festivals — proved that world-class animation could be made in Jamaica, and grew into what is now the studio's feature: Blackgoat.
